why are people voting on floor mats, im sure they cant mark them down too much, since they arent that expensive like the Rotora brakes or Turbos. we should try getting the really expensive stuff cheapers, not the things that cost ~$100

I agree that floormats may not be a GB worthy item, however its more economical to allow people to decide on their own.
The rotoras are like $3k+ (off the top of my head, I could be wrong) so the likelihood of a lot of those selling even when priced lower is low.

and yeah the floor mats are under 90 bucks already lol i was thinking do we really need a discount.
if the z1 13 inch rotor upgrade and pistons/rods win i might have to get both though

Do you really think $3000 and 1 inch will make that big of a difference?
Search for big brake kits here on 3ZC. We had a big discussion on this. Unless you are autocrossing your Z, it's damn near pointless...

well most 13" BBK goes to around that price for a set of front/rear and im talking about a real BBK not rotor adapter. I know stoptech 13" BBK for both front/rear 4pot/2pot go for around 3800$ so at 3900$ for 6 pot/4 pot 14" all round, its a deal.
As for the price, well, if ppl could spend over 10K$ on engine mods then 3900$ isnt that bad for brakes, especially since brakes adds more security while adding power alone is only gonna cause a bigger accident:P.
+looks good :)
Edit: oh ya btw I'll be doing track days. but then again, 18" tires for track :( .

hmm well i didnt check the store price that is a pretty big difference
but yeah no offense but I'd consider you pretty foolish for doing so.
considering you have an upgrade already and are just willing to spend almost 4000 dollars to upgrade them again to something that is completly overkill.
unless ofcourse your car is a fullout track car and that's it's only purpose then it wouldn';t be foolish. but for a street car, those brakes are totally a waste of money
way more brake than you would ever need for the street
and damn 8 people vote for a group buy price on mats? they are 88 bucks as it is guys.... I'd personally try and take advantage of some financial savings on something that would cost a little more.

Since Z1 makes the big brake kit/rotors, there is a ton of mark up. It's the same thing with all "store brand/non-mainstream" products
Take Best Buy for example (I used to work there). Their store brand "Rocket Fish" HDMI cable is $100 bucks. Actual cost to Best Buy was $3.50.. Talk about price gouging...
The same goes for Z1 and all other performance part suppliers.
Look at the $200 short shifter from a while back, they took 70 bucks off that.
Almost 50% off... You don't think Z1 would take a loss? They still made some profit...
And the Z1 ICs were $200 off with free shipping. So another 25-30%
We can all see the markup Z1 has on the products with their name on them...
What makes you think the Z1 big brake kit will be any different?

It's simple business man. Supply and Demand. They have the supply, we have the demand, and they are making a killer profit. Especially on Turbo setups and exhaust systems.
From a business stand point, it's ingenious. From a consumer standpoint, we're broke as hell. :chair:
They (Z1, AMZ, Concept, 3ZC) are still making a profit on us, even though we are receiving a discount.
I'm not complaining about the prices by no means, in fact, I'm ecstatic that we receive a discount at all. I'm just pointing out that we are all a little blind to the corporate facade of "Always put the customer first"...

i have the 13" 350Z track rotors and SPL brake lines. thats a pretty basic upgrade step up from stock. i guess in comparison to turbo upgrades, thats equivalent to sport 500s from stock.
Boy i would love to have 14" brakes all around one day.
call me what you want, but i rather save a few hundred bucks on a product rather than a few hundred pennies. i am no millionaire, and i know what hard work and saving money is all about. but if you cant even afford to pay regular price for the floor mats, ~$90, then i question if you should even own a 300ZX at this point because regular maintainance is A LOT, and if you plan on upgrading your Z with QUALITY parts, you better take a look at you goals and budget before hand.

if you dont want to pay $90 for floor mats, or if you need floor mats SO bad, you can always go to autozone and get a set of universal floor mats for ~$30.
if the product is $100 or less, i dont think it should even be in the monthly poll.

I bought the Rotora 6 piston front/4 piston rear & 14" 2-piece big brake kit almost a year ago (see my garage). I can tell you guys from experience these things are not great for everyday driving for one reason only ...They squeal crazy LOUD even with the "street pads" that come in the kit unless you are getting on the brakes hard.
However, they perform as you expect and look AMAZING IMHO ...it makes me smile everytime I see them, so if it came down to it I'd buy them all over again, now if I could just stop that squeelin...

what I meant by my comment was unless the z1 13 inch kit somehow managed to become much cheaper than expected (cheaper than going a much more likely cheaper route of parting it together myself) then I'd maybe consider it.
I always try to look at package deals and then find the parts myself whenever possible. I did buy in on the gt675rs kit just because of time restraints.
I am also not complaining, just shedding some insight.

I wasn't bitching at you Delox, I was simply pointing out that all Z1 Name Brand products, as well as other store name products (Ex: AMS Radiator, Powertrix Adjustables, etc.)
By cutting out the middle man, they can mark up the cost because they deal straight with the manufactur, and can charge as much as name brand products. Thereby making a huge profit margin.
I think we can expect to see the same trend if the Z1 Big Brake Kit Wins.

I am just glad to see that they are offering items that can be useful to enthusiasts whether it be floormats or turbos...yes there are some of us out there that do not have disposable income...but I would like to restate the obvious. at least we see some type of incentive/kickback coming from these suppliers/distributors for a specific vehicle that happens to be in the range of 12 to 18 years old and have the availability to get items equal to and above oem quality at a lower price then what Nissan can provide...I would say that the markup on some OEM parts are outrageous in comparison to what a privately own business can come up with. on top of the R&D that goes into some of these aftermarket/alternate products.
that is how I look at the whole idea of a group buy, I just hope one of these times I have the disposable income to afford an item that I happen to need concurrently with when it is offered at a discounted price.

well i wasnt really making fun of anyone since i didnt make any staples jokes or anything like that
but I still stand by what I said and that it's a waste of an opportunity to save more money on something that would otherwise be more expensive, I'd try and save cash on something that would have an impact on my wallet not something that is less than my weekly lunch money.
BUT I suppose if someone really really wants mats or has no use for the other options its makes sense.
I went through the list myself and this was my reasoning for and against each one
AMS manifolds - anything AMS I deal with Vuk directly so no need
eagle rods and wisecos - I voted for (but after talkign with Vuk today I may go with another option)
z1 13 inch rotor upgrade - also nice it was my 2nd choice (I was superpissed that i spent about 400 bucks replacing my front brakes with stock sized ebc parts when that kit is less)
rotora kit - insane cost, way beyond overkill for a street car
ams pulley - I have it and deal with Vuk in person
z1 intake - i have an intake, I would probably vote for dualz though if it were an option
subframe spacers- Im putting in AMS aluminum subframe bushings
z1 silicone rad hoses - not expensive enough to justify getting a discount on when the pistons and rods seemed like the best idea to me
725 turbos - would be awesome but i dont have the money to drop on them next month
floor mats - not expensive enough again AND they dont fit my car because it's rhd
but yeah we all have different reasonings for everything as you can see my reasoning for why i did or did not choose each thing
just clearing up that i wasnt making fun of anyone

Well I just bought an engine not to long ago and am about to rebuild the old one so im voting for the pistons and rods either way....but I would love for the mats to win so that I could throw that in with my pistons order.
For me though...when I start spending money on things that are over 1, 2, 3 grand...I stop caring about saving 2-300 bucks. I care more about little things like mats, bov's, hardpipes, doolz intake, silicone hoses that prices are a bit high for what items they are.

That makes no sense. You care more about saving $15 on a floor mat than $300 on a more expensive part?
For he record I agree with the side saying these group buys should be for anything more expensive than "X" number of dollars. But we have two group buys people! Just vote for what you want - if you get it then great, if not there is always next month. The only "change" I would like to see is that the third highest voted item be carried over into the next months group buy poll.
And I wasnt "making fun" of anyone with my Staples comment, if I were I would have quoted the person. Just making a point that the cheaper the item is worth the less you care about how many pennies you saved. Bad example? Maybe.

Business wise that doesn't necessarily make the most sense. If they know the demand is high for the item and people need it (injectors are a need, floor mats are a want, relatively) then regardless of the price drop, people are going to eventually buy the item.

I don't understand some of the less expensive items either. Maybe I will get to the point that ALL I need is some new floor mats or a red stiched shift/e-brake boot, so $10-15 off is great. But to me, being able to get injectors/intercoolers/throttle bodies/turbos/manifolds/pistons & rods/brake kits...etc is the way to go. I don't see how someone would rather save $10-15 than $500-750 off a $2000.00 order.
But if they put it up there, and the majority of the public wants a discount on $100 floor mats and $50 subframe spacers...than majority rules....stupidly.

I don't understand some of the less expensive items either.
It makes perfect sense.
They started out by listing a large number of expensive items, in hope that we would jump on the group buy prices and snatch them up. These are the items we told them we wanted, and so they delivered.
However, I am assuming that a small number of us, relative to the number that voted, actually followed through with these purchases.
By offering expensive items at the deep discount of Group Buy prices without any type of commitment on our end, the administrators of the 3ZC store opened themselves up to a large threat.
Sure, we may all want the Tein coilovers or some new injectors - hell, I know I do. However, how many people do you think actually purchased the expensive "Group Buy" items each month?
IMO, the guys running this are trying a new angle here. They have intentionally populated this month's list with a large number of inexpensive items (<$500). They want to see if the disparity between the number of votes and number of purchases will still exist for more affordable items. If it does, then they might be screwed. If not, then we will have proven to these guys that we are "all talk".
Not trying to get anyone heated over this, not attacking anybody. I've voted and not purchased, too - I just couldn't afford it at the time.
I'll bet that these guys can still pull in the same (if not more) amount of profits from "Group Buy" sales of these less expensive items versus the high-end, >$1,000 goodies on pure volume of sales.

The only thing im in debt for is my other car...other than that ive got a card that I can spend up to 5 grand on whatever I want and have a year to pay it off before any interest kicks in. +1 for credit. Like I said though..its not for everyone..the only reason I do it is to make myself look good to banks :violin:

I use my card to purchase, but it's paid off monthly.
Why don't we all just be happy with what we have offered to us and what we end up saving in the long run. No matter how big or small. There's no need to debate the why's and why nots every month.

Exactly, I just didnt see why it was the most retarded thing you ever heard of. Credit boosting is the way to go, but if you know you will over spend, then saving is better

and for the other guy...saving $500-$700 off of a $2000 purchase? HAHAHAHA I would like to see that. The Turbos that were for sale the other month went from 2700 to what? 2500? OMFG!! go jizz over it.
Like the guy above me said, some people have other things to worry about than a 3 grand brake kit, if you have money to throw around like that every month good for you...but dont cry at the fact that some people have bigger fish to fry and want a discount on an item they can really easily afford and not "want". :violin:
You are right, $500 off a $2000 purchase is not set in stone, but discounts can be had. The JSPEC fascia being sold was about $200 off, but I can tell you that price is barely above cost. I know because I got one through connections at Nissan North America for cost+10%. It all depends on markup too. The Z1 intercoolers and throttle bodies had a much higher % drop than the tein coilovers, and I would assume the same for the NISMO injectors (they would have a much smaller drop). Even if they did drop big time, many people would still make money on all the ecu upgrades needed. The AMS manifolds are already $300 less than what the AMS site sells them for, so if they won in a group buy, you could potentially get them for 1/2 price of retail. $500 for $1000 manifolds is a much better deal to be had than $50 for $100 floor mats (even if they are both at 50% off).
If you put $5,000 on your credit card for mods at one time, than that $200-500 dollars saved on a big ticket item, would pay for your full price floor mats and underdrive pulley kit. See where I am going with this?
That being said, I also agree with everyone above about this being a great deal no matter what item it is. I am just all for making my money stretch, and if 3ZC is going to be so generous to offer a discount on two items of our choosing each month, I will try and have my money ready for the months the big ticket items I need win out.

Credit rocks. Buy all my stuff on credit but Major buys for the car go on brand new credit cards with 0 finance for 6 months to a year. Pay small stuff off completely . Damn thieves, sorry "bankers" will make no money off of me. Invest the money in a high yielding saving (4.00APY) or stocks. Then a month before they charge finances pay it all off. Damn thieves will make no money off of me. Age 22, Junior in college. great credit no student loans

Buying parts/mods for your car on your credit card and paying it off monthly (like steve said) is fine but I have a couple of buddies that are in debt because they just charge it.
..... not worth me loading up my credit card.

i dont understand why i get threated to get banned on an opinion/information towards AMS, but when others make an opinion/statements on AshSpec, AMZ, or any other vendors, nothing happends. i know the whole Manifold debate is a touchy subject for some, but to ban on an opinion is a little extreme, no?

go to strauss or autozone and get universal ones. thats what i did when i was a broke college student.
then eventually i got Z floor mats from Coz. i didnt want to ruin them, so i bought another set of universal ones for a 4 door car. i placed the little mats where my feet dig into the floor, then i put the other universal on top of that one. so my Z mat never gets worn. i take the universal ones off when i go to Z meets.

I always keep a set of cheap mats over my show mats. Even in the 350 I keep a set of cheapies over the 350AE's.
