Heyo,
My husband and I are first timers at Z Nationals this year. We weren't sure how show/dyno day was organized, and if we should bring a good little set up or pop up next to our car that day? Also - will they provide the helmets for track day? Any advice on necessities would be much appreciated!
So excited for Z Nationals!! Thanks!
I would definately bring a popup / water / camera and a large bottle of Crown Royal for me :rofl4: Nope , bring your own helment for trackday. Trackday is at the Little Talledaga Raceway it is a good cruise and a lot of fun to watch even if you do not get on the circuit.
edit: someone else from Memphis just joined.

edit: sunscreen and unbrella both.

Andy, I think the track event was moved to Dawsonville this year.

Yeah we need to find one too - I read this from the registration packet last year...
"All drivers are required to have a SNELL 95 M or SA approved or newer helmet for this
event. You will not pass tech unless you have a helmet that meets this requirement." - So I googled Snell helmet and there are a lot of places you can purchase one - Hopefully someone can post some good reccomendations on helmets.

Be prepared for a Jolly good show. Bring big smiles and be prepared to meet a lot of Z people. As Andy said Sun screen is a must.
I buy helmets from Summit Racing.

My personal recommendations for Track Day spectator and Car/Show Attendees:
- Pop Up Tents - (However, do have some way of either securing the tent or holding it down. We do not want anyones cars getting scratched or bumped in the event that the wind picks up)
- Coolers with plenty of drinks - (Its probably going to be HOT! Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. We will have concessions available, but coolers are welcome. However NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED either at the track or on Z1's property)
- Lawn Chairs/Fold Up Chairs/ Blankets - There is available seeting around the race track and Z1, but they are not shaded. Here at our shop there is a large grassy hill off in the front corner, I am shocked it has not become a tent village for peole looking to set up pop up tents.
Also be sure to bring other items like sunscreen, etc. We want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable weekend. It always seems like there are a few who get painfully sunburnt by Sunday.
For track participants, I recommend the following:
- An assortment of tools (wrenches, sockest, etc).
- Extra brake pads
- Extra fluids (Oil, coolant, Power Steering, brake, etc)
- Floor Jack/ Scissor Jack
- An extra person! (It always helps to have someone to help pump brakes, etc to aid in getting the car back on track inbetween run groups.)

Excellent list! Thanks so much for the help! We will bring most of this stuff with us, we're really excited. Good point bringing the extra tools for track day.

1) Yourselves

3) Liquor
All the rest can be begged, borrowed, or stolen. :D

I will have sunscreen this year. Last year my face was third degree burned. Well not really, but it didn't feel good later that night.

Gonna try. Gotta get that BBK on. It's sitting in my Z! basket waiting on some core credit. :)
Will do my year old + NIB sways & tension rods at the same time. I think I'm getting motivated.
Oh, I did wash and clean her after you left. See, you motivated me to do that, ;) Thanks.

haha. Even though she was dirty, she still looked good. Such a clean car. Too bad I didn't drive my Z there to pick up the wheels, or I could have snapped a couple pictures of them.
If you decide to go, let me know so you can join the rest of us on the way down there.

Hi John.
Not sure what will happen. in the past, track day was the main reason to go and the new facility looks like wow, fantastic. The location sucks though.
If I make it, I'm sure son will too, but just one Z. Brake kit will be here this week. :)

It appears the new facility (AMP) won't be ready for Z Nationals. :(

The track day is a huge part of the Z Nationals event with the carshow/dyno day being an even BIGGER part.
Regardless, having one without the other did not seem right. When we learned that AMP would be 100% OUT of the question for the 2011 event, we needed to re-evaluate the current event and review our options. We are awaiting ONE final confirmation now before we can post with certainty the revised event schedule. The event WILL BE the same weekend, the only adjustment will be the revision to the hotels for the Friday Track Day. Attendees should plan to stay at the previous Z Nationals event hotel in Breman for the duration of the weekend. This will simplify the event and will not require everyone to move from one hotel to the other.
More updates are coming as quickly as possible!!!

Thanks for clearing up the hotel stay. We got so excited we jumped the gun & booked a night in ATL. I'll book us for Thursday night in Bremen too. Thanks for working your asses off to pull this thing together!
