I currently have a '93 Vert and was considering coming to the Z Nats track days. I am sure that rules are different from SCCA, but I can not seem to find them any where. Any help would be appreciated.
My biggest concern was that I heard that a roll bar would be required:confused:

F4i-Pilot...we are following fairly close to the SCCA rules for the 2011 Z Nats track event. Per the rules, we will most likely allow the Z32 verts. However, we will NOT allow the 350Z, 370Z or G37 verts since their rollover protection is not adequate enough. The 300zx roll over bar is VERY close to passing the SCCA Competition Rules.
If you have any more concerns about the rules or tech be sure to give me a shout!

Yes sir, we moved venues from the Little Talladega Gran Prix circuit to the Atlanta Motor Speedwy facility. This track will be much faster than the Little Talladega track. The Atlanta Motor Speedwat course does not offer as much run off, so there is bit more risk involved. With this said, we have to be stricter on the rules.
And BTW..bring a SA class helmet this year Chris! I won't mention the one you brought last year to tech inspections .

2005SA is still good. SCCA approves helmets with a Snell Date of NO OLDER than 10 yrs. So you are good to go for this event and few more years.

Wow, those new model verts are actually not as good as the Z32 vert (in terms of protection)? crazy lol

As far as roll over protection for the DOT and NHTSA, yes they are probably better than the 300zx. But based on the rules of SCCA, no they are not.
DOT/NHTSA does not intend or expect you to be doing well above the posted speed limit (~ 85 mph is highest posted speed limit in the states if I recall correctly?) whereas it is highly likely that you will be doing well over that in a track situation.
Also, the DOT bases their standards as far as rollover protection on an average height. Obviously there is ALOT of difference in height from one person to the next. SCCA mandates that the cage or rollover protection extend a to a minimum height above the driver's helmet. 370Z', G37's and 350Z's are not even close to doing this unless you have an aftermarket set of racing seats.
