ZCON 2012 Coming to the West Coast!

OK, I know ZCON 2011 just wrapped up, that's clear across the country for me. As much as I'd have loved to go, it was outta the question, so I look forward to the pics of how it went down over there.

On a brighter note, (and I know this has been floating around for a bit) ZCON 2012 will be held in Arizona! So I'm definitely looking forward to this, as it's going to be my first major Z event I will attend. I can't wait to caravan over there with the West Coast Zs, it' gonna be epic!

I've got a lot to do to get the Z ready, so I'm already orchestrating a battle plan. Gotta make sure to put some vacation hours to the side as well, because I plan on staying for the duration of the event!

The track day will be at Bondurant Racing and there is a Nissan Test Track in Phoenix as well. Seen pictures of the hotel resort and it's a stone throw away from Scottsdale which is party city. There is the longest and largest car show in the United States on that Saturday. Just going to be amazing all around.

I can't wait for Pre-registration to open up.

Could be until the 23rd but looking at the last couple of conventions that last weekend date is usually some sort of "Cup Party" that very few stick around for.

They try to alternate ZCons from east to west of the Mississippi, so it's unlikely 2013 will be in San Diego.

Bondurant School is at Firebird Raceway.

I must have skipped the part where the resort is, but everything is a hop skip and a jump away. I would say that party central is Tempe and Mill Ave, but Scottsdale does have a downtown nightlife.

National Z Car Convention is a show that you should do at least once.

RS3s aren't R-comps, so I don't see why you can't street them. I've streeted RS3s before without issues.

Just a friendly reminder that we are meeting this Saturday, August 20th starting at 9:30 AM at Pinnacle Nissan to continuing our planning for ZCON2012. The purpose of the meeting:

· Provide a debrief of ZCON 2011, which was held in Savannah, GA
· Discuss our overall plans and scope for ZCON 2012
· Seek volunteers for various areas, including but not limited to sponsorship, marketing, track, hotel events, driving events and car show support

We learned a great deal at ZCON2011 and we believe we are well positioned to host a great event.

This is the issue they ran into with ZCON 2010 in Nashville. I got a kick out of the coverage by My Classic Car where almost every person they interviewed did thirty seconds on the heat before talking about their Z. I was thinking, "how would you like to deal with that for five months...every year of your life", lol.

Either way, this gives me an excuse to goto Pheonix...never been there other than connecting in the airport.

As of now it looks like registration will be up January 1st. :) Events planned that I know of so far... car show at Mesa Riverside, Firebird West and possibly Main road coarse, autocross at the Nissan test facility, opening and closing ceremonies in the Wild Horse Pass theater, rooms for $119 a night which includes around $30 a day in money kick backs for food and gambling... so around $89 a night... and the kickbacks can be accrued for use whenever you want, cruise to Payson/Sedona/Jerome, Friday Night Drag racing at Firebird, Pavilions car show... and so much more...

and don't let the heat scare you... it's a dry heat :rock:

Idk if registration is open yet, pretty sure they're still writing things in stone. But you gotta stay the entire duration of the convention!! Id be so down to give my time and effore into orchestrating a massive West Coast caravan, multiple rendezvous points, rest stops... the works!
