It turned out that my cam gears were not leaking. I found a set of cam gears with 50,000 miles on them for ~$40? and installed them when I changed my timing belt just for insurance. While the timing belt wasn't absolutely drenched with oil, it was dirty under my timing belt covers. I think that the oil had come from a bad valve cover leak that I had fixed a while ago.

Hey I was doing some searching and saw your post on leaking cam gears. Was that the oil leak causing your problems? Was your timing belt and timing covers covered in oil on the inside?

My Z has 138k miles and I believe my cam gears are leaking too.
