I personally have not experienced this problem however, when you unplug the mass airflow sensor the car goes into limp mode. I would begin with checking things like your idle air control valve and other components that may not function when in limp mode. Also are you using a mass airflow sensor with the orange label? If not this may be your problem is I've dealt with a lot of problems using non-OEM mAF's.
