Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!

Wait, wait.... WHAT? $55. Not including a T-Shirt. Am I missing something here? The WD-40 bag of goodies is from Sponsors and free. The Trophies are a fraction of the cost of all of the registrants. Hotel Rooms are paid for by the people that attend. Even if 50% of all proceeds went to Wounded Warrior there would be plenty left over for the cost of the event space and movie if there is even a movie anymore. What other costs are there?

I am at a loss for words.

Wow, this just continually gets worse. Amazing. Is running this now a paid position?

The only other cost I can think of is renting Area 57 where the car show is.

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!

Guess I can cancel registration. Are we even sure WD-40 is going to sponsor it? Just going to send an email saying I'm cancelling to pickles. I'm not paying for someone's Disney vacation this year.

I would really appreciate a break down of what fees are going towards. I'm sure the cookout is included. I hate to say this but this is my last year of registering. If I go next year it's to see friends without registering for BZF.

^I think nobody should register. If Pickle sees that nobody is paying to go, maybe then he'll pay attention to registration and what everyone is getting for their money. I vote Chris and Steve take this over.

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!

Playing devil's advocate here....I believe Pickle is donating a huge amount of it to charity. Doesn't yield well for the show, especially down to how ridiculously late registration has been put up this year, but there are good causes being helped here, however, I'd rather see a collection or something as per usual.

I am surprised that a t-shirt isn't even being given this year.

Yes, WD40 will be there but probably for the last year. The BBQ is not included. A sponsor is paying for the meat, etc. But they will be collecting a donation at the door....probably for Wounded Warrior.

Something else that hasn't been mentioned.....

It used to be your registration got you a free 1 year subscription to Nissan Sport Magazine. Nissan Sport is no longer but Art Singer has started a new Z magazine. Here is your special Branson Z Fest Deal:
"As an attendee of Branson Z Fest, you are eligible to get a 1-Year Subscription to ZCCM for $28.00. (6 issues mailed directly to home - a savings of $6.00 off the regular price!) Reserve your subscription by selecting 'YES' : "

Yes, Acadiana is sponsoring the BBQ but it's hard to tell by the website.

I haven't even heard Zach jumping up and down with excitement yet. Usually he's posted something on ASCO or Branson website about.

Oh well, it'll be fun no doubt!

...and perhaps the liability insurance...but yea....no shirt, no free magazine, and no price drop since we get nothing by registering anymore, I think I'll pass. If I want WD40 stuff, Dan always takes care of me.

Don't worry all you gloomy Gus's, we will still have a great time.... The biggest thing for BZF is the "unofficial" activities, which tend to be the cruises and the partying, so really, nothing is really changing, other than simply not registering. I'll bring ID badges from a previous year for my wife and I....not like anyone really doesn't know who I am anyway.

Marty, Steve and I used to be on the planning committee years ago. I handled all the web site stuff and Steve helped with some sponsors and some other logistics. We both stepped aside, as Pickle is not much use when it comes to coordinating anything....kind of difficult to plan something like this with both hands tied around your balls. If the opportunity presented itself, I would consider taking it over with Steve if needed....as long as the thorn was no longer involved.

Thumbs up Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!

I'll stand with Chris on this one! I've always travelled half way across the world each year because of the people and the evening parties and daily cruises. The cars and the show are not quite as important, but they are there to be enjoyed.

I'd love to see Steve and Chris take the reigns on this as they did a good job of promoting it when they did the roles they used to.

Having registration open a month and a half before the event, lack of communication or any promotion really bugs me.

It is no harder opening registration when all the other shows do, about 4 - 6 months before. Having information and getting people enthused seems to be non-existant. I know how good this event is as do all the regular attendees, but for new people....well, they're not left with much information to go on and simply saying 'same as last year' WHEN QUESTIONED, isn't really the way to do things.

Being a sales and marketing professional, seeing the basics not taken care of kinda annoys me.

But it's still great fun, the people that visit this event are simply awesome and it's a great chance for you to come and have a drink with 3ZC staff members too (and take the piss out of my accent) as it's the only show in the country where so many of us have the chance to have a get together!

I love Branson!

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (again)...

Last year, my hotel rate was $55 a night. When I booked my rook a few weeks back I was quoted $65/night. I assumed I would get the BZF rate of $55.

I just called the Ramada to confirm my rate and the confirmed the BZF rate was $65!! I mentioned last year's rate was $55 which she acknowledged but this year it is $65.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but this could have been one of those things Pinkard had no control over and was forced by the hotel. Our rates of $55/night for how ever many years was a pretty good deal. Now that the economy is improving, people are traveling more, etc. the hotel could have decided it was time to catch up.

My room was $60 per night. Got my usual room reserved, 213. Can't blame the hotel on Pickle, that is totally out of his control......but all the rest of the really questionable & shady things that are going on, yup...blame Pickle.

Nope. Unless you just really have to put your car in the show, don't even bother registering. Just get your room and show up.

Reading through this I am not sure that I will not just head to the Farm, use the Condo and party with my buds in Branson and head back to the Condo this year. I will not registrar for anything unless things are made a lot more clearer. Car shows are not rocket science or am I missing something?

The rocket science is simple, if your class doesn't have a car or two from the Oklahoma group in it, you have a chance of winning....

Glad it worked out Shane! See ya in a few weeks!

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!

Hoping someone on here can help me out. I was there last year in '13 and there was another guy with a Z32 that had "fake" TwinZ style sides on his car. I think his Z was silver? They were made from wood trim that he painted black. Anyone remember this and happen to know his name and info. Is he on this site? Wanted to ask him a few questions. I won't be there this year, already taking to much time off for Zcon and other trips.

I think you are talking about Jon Hodges, he is from Illinois just out of St. Louis I think. Yes, he is a member here, can't think of his login. I believe he just left for Lackland AFB. He joined the Air Force. Might still track him down on FB.

He's had that car repainted black.
