Huge 08 Z Nationals recap post, 60 pics & DVD trailer inside

First and foremost, we would like to thank all of the participants, sponsors, vendors, and staff that helped make the 2008 Z Nationals a reality and a success. We had a very strong showing of both Zs and foot traffic despite the threat of rain. 2008 was the biggest Z Nationals yet in both number of cars and attendance including over one hundred Z32s rolling in throughout the course of the weekend. With the help of our extensive list of sponsors we were able to give away over $10,000 in merchandise, gift vouchers, and apparel. Without all of your support there is no way that this event would or could take place, without the enthusiasts who drive or fly hundreds, even thousands, of miles to attend the Z Nationals wouldn't exist. We appreciate the dedication that everyone has shown by attending, supporting, and growing the Z Nationals each and every year.

There are a couple image galleries posted with great images captured throughout the weekend. The 08 Z Nationals was the feature event on the front page of the Modified Mag website for a few weeks and will be featured in the July issue. There are some great images in their events section here on Modified.com.
There are several hundred more pictures here in the 300zx.com events gallery, many of which were captured and provided by 3ZC members.

Friday provided near perfect weather for the track day which was filled to capacity with Zs a couple months in advance.

Although rain was forecasted, Saturday was a beautiful sunny day until mid-afternoon. Z1 Motorsports facility was nearly full while attendees participated in the numerous ongoing activities planned for the day.

Some of the highlights of this year’s event included a pair of Nissan IMSA cars on display; these legendary original winning race cars were at Z1 for most of the day and gave every one an up close and personal look at the workings of a true road race car.

Courtesy of Nissan Corporation we were also graced with the appearance of a 2009 Nissan GT-R. The arrival of this awesome machine was delayed by weather but once the car arrived crowds gathered around to catch a glimpse of the next generation Nissan super car and there were even spirited rides that afternoon for a lucky few.

An X-box Forza 2 competition was held with your choice of Z's to drive in competition for the fastest lap times to win a new X box 360.

The Show n’ Shine Competition was complicated by the arrival of rain towards the end of the day but a diverse group of cars from completely original stock cars all the way to wildly modified cars were on display. In the end Shane Abernathy took home the first place trophy in the Z32 modified class and Tim Brown went home a winner in the Z32 stock class.

The dyno competition included several 500+ hp cars. In the end it was Mohammed Orilow who put down the winning numbers taking the trophy for highest powered Z at over 650 RWHP.

All the car show and dyno results are posted HERE

At the dinner and awards banquet on Saturday night we had a full house of around 300 people most in the running for a very impressive list of prizes that were given away.

Afterwards the party began including live entertainment eventually leading to an outbreak of "unsanctioned festivities" back at the event hotel.

The 2008 Z Nationals was an overwhelming success thanks in large part to our sponsors. ADVAN / Yokohama and their representative Chet Plewacki were a large part of this year’s event. Also Vuk Zivic and the rest of the crew from AMS contributed greatly to the show. Gwinnett Place Nissan of Duluth, GA provided a delicious free lunch for everyone in attendance Saturday as well as other giveaways. We are all appreciative for their contributions to this year’s event.

All of our sponsors deserve to be recognized once again for their contributions to the event; without them the quality of the Z Nationals event would suffer immensley.
