The Greenwood, Mississippi tree incident:
http://www.zmods.org/images/2009-09-29-shifter/natz_3709.jpg

It scraped the paint in a couple places down to the primer, so it won't buff out. I'll have to repaint the bumper, at which time I'll shave the rock guard off.....blessing in disguise?!? haha

Looks like your exhaust could use some polishing too. I'd say sorry about the damage, but I know that you like your projects and improving Goldie's looks (shaved rock guard) makes this as a good thing to happen.

Ok, the rest of the story.....was Monday morning (yesterday) at my house in Greenwood, MS, 8am. I woke up from only having 3hrs of sleep, getting ready to head home. I was backing up, so I check mirrors and look back, see a tree, looking like I'll clear it by plenty.....I guess I wasn't awake enough because I felt a nudge, look back, and the corner is mashed up on the tree...... :smack:

Gutted :(

But yes, smoothed rock guard is a nice thing. Shame I didn't have my Z over there as you could have run your hands all over my arse to see how smooth it felt! haha

Ok, the rest of the story.....was Monday morning (yesterday) at my house in Greenwood, MS, 8am. I woke up from only having 3hrs of sleep, getting ready to head home. I was cutting it down the access road when the boost kicked in. Goldie all the sudden jumped up and started hauling some ass. When second gear locked in the rear tires broke loose and the ass end started coming around. I gave her more gas and counter steered the car into a reverse lock slide and let the rears smoke all they wanted. As i let off the gas suddenly the rear snapped around.....I guess I wasn't awake enough because I felt a nudge, look back, and the corner is mashed up on the tree...... :smack:

Fixed things up for ya Chris... Sometimes the truth is just too damn boring to read.

Bummer d00d. It probably hurt you more than the car. ie: that awhwhwhw F$%& moment.

We'll go with that, I like that version better too. :D

yes keith, I did say a few naughty words, but honestly, I didn't really get all that upset for some reason... Not sure if it was from being tired or knowing that Goldie will get a smoothed hiney now.... I actually let out a huge WHEW when I realized the tail light was ok and there was no damage to the metal or paint on the metal. Bumpers are easy to repaint, quarter panels aren't (sectioning, painting, blending, etc).

Sorry to hear about the misplaced tree. But it sounds like you were just waiting for this project.

Speaking of projects...Dirt114 is in the garage right now repairing his bumper from the road debris he hit on his way back from the track.

Actually I don't like any stories that involve messing up our cars.

You do know that Vuk tagged a deer with the Porsche on the way to the racetrack at ZCon?

Chris, I think you'll like how Goldie will turn out with the rockgard shaved.
It's what's holding me back from taking a chance on some sideskirts. I'd hate to cover up such clean smooth lines.

John, I washed her and rubbed it with some compound and polished it. It all came out except a small bit where the black is showing. Step back 3 feet, you can't even see it. I may just touch up the black spot and call it a day until the day comes to repaint the whole car. Her paint is original, and I wanna keep it that way until its just so bad that the car looks yukky, at which time I'll repaint it all and shave all the rock guards.

Here's how it came out:
