It is one of the three not to miss-in order of current appearance!
1) Zcon
2) Z Nationals
3) ZdayZ

Will , you are a little biased , this year especially. BZF is one great show and party. I dont ever plan on missing that one. ZDayz and ZNats are basically in my back yard so the are pretty much a given. Next year ZCon is in Phoenix and we are planning on that one too.

I schedule my Vacation for Znats back in February. Girlfriend is upset because she won't be able to go and even more upset that I will be going without her.

Andy,
I did leave off Branson, but not because of bias, my list was in the order they are coming up on the Calendar-and I haven't seen that Next years Branson event has been announced. I would have been there this year it there was any way... I have too many friends who have too good of a time to think It wouldn't be in the top four Sorry for my confusion.

In Alphabetical order, order the four events not to miss are:
Branson Z Fest
Z CON
ZDayz
Z Nationals

It looks like I have to go to a Z event first in something other than a Z to make it there.
My first Zcon I went in a Volvo...yes, I know, but it does get worse...
My first Zdayz I planned to come in my vert on Thursday, but Murphy had a seriously different plan, so I started out around noon on Friday in a 2003 Ford Taurus, and ended up pulling into Fontana Village a little before midnight in a rented Versa.
This year, I am chairing Zcon, and I may be back to the Volvo......The Z is down and I have no time between now and July 18th to even get it to a shop! I told you it got worse!
I guess I better find a rental place that has a leaf for Branson!

SSHHhhhh! Not many people know about that... gotta keep it on the DL.

I don't believe I did too much humping during Z Nats 2010, but I do admit, I was like a senior citizen with a few Viagra's in his system at a nursing home full of sexy widows in '09. :eyebrows:

I couldn't help myself, the love had to be spread. Since I have my own Z now, and have been tamed to some degree, I should be able to control myself.

I can't promise anything though. :haha:

Dustin, I should have erased the pictures from Steve's (Sousuke) camera before he had the chance to upload them. Oh well, at least I wasn't grinding my belt buckle causing scratch marks or leaving body fluids behind. I guess you could say it was a safe and distant dry hump. Kind of like the big bear hug I gave the blue Skyline inside Z1.

For the record...the 370...she enjoyed it, but I don't think the family walking up behind me found it too amusing. lol

Good times though. Good times. I can't wait for the next event.

Not sure if the other guy is gonna come or not. I think the wife might go though... I was surprised actually. I asked her and she said maybe. Usually when I invite her to a car anything she says no before I finish the sentence.

Can't wait!!!

After being turned away at the border for last years Z Nationals, I'm going to ensure that same thing doesn't happen again.
This will require some creative form letters from Z1 (Justin and/or Russell) which "should" negotiate a smooth transition with the Homeland Security folk. It worked yesterday when I attended the ZCCR event yesterday in Rochester.
I'll contact Russelland/or Justin directly on this request.

On another note, I'm looking for some NIStune knowledgeable folk that wouldn't mind riding shotgun a few times with my laptop and guiding me through some fine (road) tuning.

I was told yesterday that there is a poll on their Facebook page as to what to do on Friday since track day is now sunday.Perhaps a Poker Run. It gets people out onto the roads to see what the local countryside looks like.
It doesn't take a lot to set-up. Make a long route and a short route.
Have prizes/awards for the winners and runners up presented at the banquet.

370Z = Z34: 300zx = Z32And yet another reminder that Z1 doesn't care (or is that remember?) about anything old....

Other way around....
Z32 = 300ZX.
Z31 is also a 300ZX.

To say the 300ZX is a Z32 is incorrect, because more 300ZX cars were Z31s (3 times as many). :bart:

I figured he was talking about a Z34. But to put the "GM" up front just made me laugh. Sort of like all the 350Z boards that used to put the trim level next to 350Z (track/perf/base/enth/etc).

Thanks and we hope that the minimal fee wouldn't deter anyone from attending. As the Z Nationals Event continues to grow so does the cost of putting it on. In the past Z1 has footed the bill with sponsors simply providing products to giveaway. We also giveaway thousands of dollars in Z1 products the day of the event and promote a huge list of products on special near cost with minimal mark-ups. We could buy a respectable foreclosed house for the amount the event costs to put on after paying for:

Thousands of hours of employee time preparing for and working the event

Preparation and supplies for Z1 facilities to handle the event and people

Printed materials like programs, registration forms, posters, etc

Lanyards, badges, wristbands, etc

Nearly 1000 Free lunches and drinks

Rental of Banquet Facilities - which are not covered by the costs we charge to attend and eat

DJ services for the full day

Security

Website development, maintenance, and hosting

Trophies & awards

Film Crew and Production

Photographers

Models

and much more

The minimal fee will not come close to covering the total cost of the event but will help defer the cost for lunch, event guides, and some of the other consumables.

A ten dollar fee shouldn't be an issue for anyone that owns a Z. That's cheaper than a Subway foot long, double meat turkey sub with a large drink for 11 bucks. (My favorite by the way.)

That may be an expensive sub, but for 10 dollars I can go see a butt load of nice Z's, listen to the sweet sounds from the dyno area, meet other enthusiasts, enter tickets for free giveaways, and have a free lunch? Sure thing. Where can I pay for next year too? haha

Any idea when the specials will be posted? I'm curious how much of a dent my wallet will take while down there. haha

I cant believe this. All because a car is RHD, you have that much of a problem at the boarder? Wow this country has its priorities so far out of whack. I guess if I wanna pull across drugs or some other sort of contraband, it's best to do it behind someone crossing in a RHD car. You know, treat crimes in order of precedence and all. What a crock, this country is ridiculous.

Back on topic, sadly I will not be attending Nats this year. Fall of my graduating year so no classes, and I'm stuck working graveyard shifts 6 days a week for peanuts.

Knowing the time and cost to host an event of such magnitude I'd easily pay $10. I'd go to $25 or $50 knowing it included track time. I attended Mustang week in Myrtle Beach this year and we got to go to the strip at Darlington and run the Myrtle Beach Speedway track. Even a .5 mile circle was fun. I quickly got bitten by the track bug and would now love to run any of my cars at a sanctioned event.

Track time is def NOT included in that price. The only event that cheap to run your car are autox and drag. Some grassroots drift days are cheap.. but a road course is going to cost a few hundred (as it did with this one) because of all the support and people it takes to run it.

Correct. Track Days are quite expensive to organize and operate. There are alot of hidden costs that most people do not think about or realize that must be included.

Things like:

Insurance on the event (a few THOUSAND dollars)
Staff (we had 30+ employees running Sunday's track day this year)
Fire/Rescue/Tow Truck Staff
Track rental fees itself! (facilities, equipment, etc. Several THOUSAND dollars)
Camera/Media Crews to document the event.

There are many other things that have to be considered or included into the operating costs. Some tracks are also MUCH more expensive to rent than others depending the on their size, demand, prestige, so on and so forth.

There is alot of risk in setting up track days too. Most of these events have to planned MONTHS, if not years, in advance. This is a huge risk to the investor or company funding the event since we need sponsors and participants to pay for the event. There have been cases where huge losses are incurred by the organizers when they are unable to fill the needed registration spots or secure the target sponsorship commitments.

If we can get sponsors to help support the track event in a much larger capacity for future Z Nationals events, then we will gladly reduce the cost of participating in the track day (if we are able to).
