History
Bought around ~2000 to replace my '83 280zx owned since I was 16. She'd been traded in for a Mercedes. Purchased and worked on just cleaning her up during the winter. She went to her first convention in Ontario in '01 and had her first track event there as well. After a third place in class, started planning a conversion to something more aggressive. Started with KYB/Eibach suspension, sways, bushings, upgraded radiator, ZEX N20 custom system, one-off Zenetti wheels w/ Pirelli rubber, custom hatch interior, Kenwood stereo system, on-board PC built in, Stillen body components and engine detailing. Had her painted and reassembled within days of leaving to go to San Antonio for 2002 convention. 2nd place in class to a local Z but won the NISMO award. '03 Nashua convention, she took 1st place in show and ZCCA "Gold Cup" award. In '03, she won in over eight regional shows across country - all 1st place showings. Her license plate "ZINISTR" was featured in the 350z marketing launch commercials and in print advertising. Fall '03, Sport Z featured "Zinistr" in the magazine. Early '04, retired from car shows and started driving her as part of roadgodz.com events...'04 Vegas trip, others, to present she's been cross country numerous times and been to 46 of the 48 states for road-trips and Z events.
In '06, decided that HP upgrade was needed...she was converted to a TT using USDM donor engine/trans. ~500bhp upgrade at time, ran in this configuration down to Daytona ('07 ZCCA convention), participated in track event @ Daytona speedway. In '08, she saw only local events as I began to segway into hosting larger car events. Our local Z club hosted the '08 "Cleveland RockZ" convention, I chaired the event. Though a smaller convention due to the economy, most who attended consider it one of the best conventions ever put on.
Since then, the car has had the engine pulled, balanced, head-work, forged internals, much larger turbos, 3" SS exhausts, and other enhancements to add 50% more power over the initial TT conversion.
Since '08, I have helped the ZCCA organize Z car clubs across North America and assist the organization of other ZCCA Z car conventions (known lately as the "ZCON").
Zinistr's well over 150k miles now and strong as ever. Over time, she's gained a few garage mates with a '93 TT convertible, my wife's '94 convertible and an '09 Nismo 370z.
