Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!
Traditionally it's the weekend after Memorial Day. That would make it Friday May 30, Saturday May 31, and Sunday June 1, 2014.
Again, traditionally, there is drag racing Friday afternoon, and car show followed by awards ceremony Saturday. A lot of people arrive earlier in the week to drive the great roads around the area. |

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!
RE Abe's post above, I posted this earlier on Facebook and the Heart of America Z Car Club website:
"R.I.P. Tony Mithelavage, November 26, 2013 I regretfully announce that Tony Mithelavage passed away yesterday, November 25. In the words of Tony’s brother Mick, “Tony is now humbly kneeling before the Lord, enjoying his just reward.” It is with mixed emotions I make this announcement. As I have already shared with you, Tony influenced, either directly or indirectly, the lives of everyone receiving this notice. For this, I feel a great loss and sorrow. I do, however, feel great relief that Tony’s pain and suffering are over. I will pass along the memorial/visitation/funeral arrangements as I receive them. If you plan to attend, PLEASE drive your Z/G’s as a final tribute and send off for the man who has played such a key role in our lives. Please keep Tony’s wife Connie and family in your prayers." If you are on the Branson Z Fest Facebook page, this is a nice tribute to Tony which says it all. Tony had a significant presence in Branson Z Fest and the Midwest Z community. To jar your memory, here is a picture of him: |

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!
Funeral arrangements for Tony Mithelavage were just announced by Tony’s brother Mick. Per the Heart of America Z Car Club website:
“Visitation for Tony is Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home at 1501 West Lexington Ave., Independence. Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 Monday afternoon at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 3736 South Lee’s Summit Road, Independence. We hope to have a few Z-cars in the procession to Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri.” NOTE! Did you see the part about a Z/G procession? Hopefully, we can make this happen. Regardless, whether you attend the Visitation or Funeral, PLEASE make an attempt to drive your Z/G car. It would be a tremendous show of respect for a man who has earned it from each and every one of us. Monday’s forecast is 48 degrees and dry. Dan McConnell Heart of America Z Car Club |

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!
Confirming the dates are the week of Memorial Day, or May 26.
As the veterans know, the schedule is pretty loose and you can do as much or as little as you want. The only "officially sanctioned" events are the drag strip Friday and the car show Saturday. They do have awards for that. Last years "unofficially sanctioned" events included a Wednesday night cruize to a local distillery then a pizza run and a Thursday night BBQ with the proceeds going to charity. Re. arrival dates, that's up to you and your schedule. Some arrive early in the week and some make it Friday night. Personally, I arrive on Tuesday and spend the week driving the amazing roads there. |

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!
I am pretty sure I'm coming this year, really no excuse since the drive isn't that bad. From what I remember of the area there are some pretty sweet roads out there. Pics from previous years look like all sorts of shenanigans. I enjoy shenanigans.
Surely there will be a few coming from the KC Metro...count me in if I ever get this stupid harness through the firewall. RT

Re: Branson Z Fest 2014!
Yes, there is always a lot of Kansas City people arriving on all different days. There is usually a caravan from Omaha that comes through as well.
If you're on Facebook, hook up on the Branson Z Fest Group page. That's where most people communicate and coordinate. |
