So go VG30ET, any turbo is better than no turbo.

There are 2 white ones now, my brothers '84 and my '84. I scrapped the flat black '86, was too rusty. lol. I can source a turbo crossmember, ECU, and install a walbro 255LPH (better than stock, and only ~$100 new) fairly cheap. The NA wiring harness is fully compatible with the turbo engine and ECU, and any wiring changes needed if running a different o2 sensor (depending on ECU year) I'm fully capable of making having done them on my 84 NA harness to run an 86T ECU, though as of now I'm running an 86NA ECU with Nistune.

Shoulda contacted me man, I woulda built you a VG33ET for a good deal. I've got a ton of experience with these cars. You should come by soon if you can and check out my current projects. lol

People do it because they have issues. If you don't have issues, don't worry about it. That page doesn't say that you need to do it. It just provides you with the information to do it.

I'm not really sure I understand the confusion. Where exactly does it say you have to rewire your injectors after a recall?
